The EFR Emergency First Responder Course is an innovative CPR/First Aid program that teaches you skills that could help save a life.

Step by step accident management methods, help you to assess a situation and act in the most efficient way to help someone before professional medical help arrives.

Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) teaches participants how to respond to life-threatening emergencies. The course focuses on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise.

Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid) covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening. Participants focus on secondary assessment and first aid through knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice.

What will I Learn during the EFR - Emergency First Responder Course?

Primary Care (CPR) prepares you to provide aid to those with life-threatening emergencies.

You’ll learn about: Scene Safety Assessment Universal Precautions, Communicable Disease Protection (including barrier use), Primary Assessment, Rescue Breathing, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Conscious and Unconscious Obstructed Airway Management, Serious Bleeding Management, Shock Management and Spinal Injury Management.

Secondary Care (First Aid) builds upon the lessons of Primary Care and helps you assist those in need when Emergency Medical Services are either delayed or unavailable.

You’ll learn about: Injury Assessment, Illness Assessment, Bandaging, Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures.

The EFR - Emergency First Responder Course also includes Reference Sections on the following topics: Allergic Reactions, Bruises, Burns, Chemical Burns, CPR (adult, child, infant) Choking (adult and infant), Cone Shell Stings, Coral, Jellyfish and Hydroid Stings, Cuts, Dental Injuries, Diabetic Problems, Dislocations and Fractures, Electrical Injuries, Eye Injuries, First Aid Kit Assembly, Fish Spine Injury, Frostbite, Heat Exhaustion, Heatstroke, Heart Attack, Hypothermia, Illness Assessment, Injury Assessment, Insect Stings, Octopus Bites, Poisoning, Rescue Breathing (adult, child, infant) Scrapes, Seizures, Snake Bites, Spider Bites, Sprains and Strains, Stroke, Temperature Related Injuries, Venomous Bites and Stings and Illness Assessment Record Sheet.

The EFR - Emergency First Responder Course teaches you that Emergency First Response is flexible – you can learn background knowledge in your own time before participating in practical, hands-on training sessions with a qualified Emergency First Response instructor.

An Emergency First Response qualification is valid for 2 years. You should participate in an EFR - Emergency First Responder Course every 2 years to refresh your skills and update your qualification.

The Emergency First Response courses meet CPR requirements for participants seeking certification through the American Council on Exercise.

Who can participate in the EFR - Emergency First Responder Course?

Absolutely anyone can benefit from this First Aid/CPR Course. There is no restriction made on age or physical condition. At Similan Islands Scuba Diving in Thailand, we recommend that the minimum age is 8, but if younger children are interested they can join in too.

How often do you run courses?

EFR - Emergency First Responder Courses start every day. You can book now or come in to see see us while you’re on holiday in Koh Lanta, Phuket, Khao Lak. We offer free transfers to and from your resort in Koh Lanta, Phuket, Khao Lak for any of our dive courses or daily dive trips and Liveabord.

What languages do you teach in?

We run EFR - Emergency First Responder Courses in English, German, Swedish and French. We run semi-supported courses in Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Thai. Please let us know if you require course materials in another language and we can order them for you.

How much does it cost?

The EFR - Emergency First Responder Course costs 6500 THB. At Similan Islands Scuba Diving, all our scuba certification courses include manuals and free equipment rental. For the EFR - Emergency First Responder Course program you’ll receive the EFR - Emergency First Responder Manual to keep as a reference guide.

How many people are in each group?

We keep group sizes small to ensure you receive maximum benefit from your tuition (maximum 4 students per Instructor). Our emphasis is on safety, fun and personal service within a relaxed and stress-free environment.

An EFR - Emergency First Responder Course certification is only the beginning! A whole new world of adventure is waiting for you.

Your next step would be to complete the PADI Rescue Diver Course. The PADI Rescue Diver Course is serious fun and prepares you to be able to assist in a real diving emergency.

Then you can progress onto the PADI Master Scuba Diver Course or become a PADI Divemaster.

Or, you can just keep diving Koh Lanta, Phuket, Khao Lak…! Similan Islands Scuba Diving is ideally located in the Andaman sea to offer shorter journey times to some of the best dive sites in Thailand.
