The PADI Scuba Diver Course is designed to take you through the first part of the Open Water Course and leads to a limited certification, which can be upgraded at any time, to the full Open Water Certification.
What will I Learn in the PADI Scuba Diver Course?
You'll gain the essential skills, experience and knowledge to make your diving safe and fun, as well as a limited licence to dive anywhere in the world, for the rest of your life.
The 2 day course includes academic training, self-study sessions, pool work and 2 open water dives. You'll learn how to assemble and take care of your equipment and complete skills both in the swimming pool and in open water.

Your dives are limited to a maximum depth of 12 m. You will be under the direct supervision of a PADI Instructor at all times.
Who can participate?
If you're aged 10+, in general good health and fitness, and are not suffering from a cold or ear infection, you should be eligible to enrol on the PADI Scuba Diver Course.

How often do you run courses?
Courses start every day. You can book now, or come in to see see us while you're on holiday in Koh Lanta, Phuket and Khao Lak. We offer free transfers to and from your resort in Koh Lanta, Phuket and Khao Lak for any of our dive courses or daily dive trips.
What languages do you teach in?
We run courses in English, German, Swedish, Danish, French & Thai. We run semi-supported courses in Norwegian, Finnish, Spanish & Dutch. Please let us know if you require course materials in another language and we will order them for you.
How much does it cost?
The price is 14,500 THB. At Similan Islands Scuba Diving, all our scuba certification courses include manuals and free scuba diving equipment rental. For the Scuba Diver program you'll receive the PADI Open Water Diver Manual, log book. In addition, we teach all of our diver level courses in small groups to ensure that you receive the attention that you deserve. All our courses are taught to PADI Standards and prices include PADI certification fees.
On the dive boats, we supply breakfast, lunch, drinking water and fruit.
How many people are in each group?
We keep group sizes small to ensure you receive maximum benefit from your tuition (maximum 4 students per Instructor). This also minimises negative impact on the reefs. Our emphasis is on safety, fun and personal service within a relaxed and stress-free environment.
